Survival Gear

What is the Purpose of Purchasing Survival Supplies and Gear?

To put it simply, the point of purchasing such gear and supplies is to stave off the possibility of being caught unprepared in the event of a catastrophe. Such a catastrophe could occur due to an economic collapse, political unrest, a major weather event, or war. The point of having survival gear is giving yourself the ability to survive when life as you know it dissolves and you are forced to fend for yourself. Survival equipment is great to carry or have stored for that just in case situation. As my granddaughter says "you never know".
But these items can be used every day if hiking, camping, or if you get stuck in the car to and from work.

What Is a Survival Kit?

A survival kit is a set of survival supplies and gear that is stored in a safe and secure place. When needed during an emergency, this kit can then be accessed.

What are Tactical pens?

We have a great selection of tactical pens at great prices. Many people I talk to have never heard about a tactical pen let alone know how to use one. For that reason, we have below a fairly lengthy explanation about tactical pens. Today’s tactical pens are a great addition to everyone's survival gear.

Today's modern tactical pen is a writing instrument that is also designed as a self-defense tool. It is really just a variation of the Kubotan, the self-defense keychain that was invented in the 1970 ′ s by Grand Master Takayuki Kubota.
One end is always blunt and can be used to strike the assailant with blunt force trauma ... or it can be used to apply pressure on pressure points to control or direct a person. Using the blunt end will give the least physical damage to the aggressor.

The other end of the tactical pen is more pointed (so that you can write with it) and is even more effective at generating pain at pressure points. Used with your thumb on the blunt end and by striking downwards or to the sides repeatedly it is very effective at subduing your attacker.

If you think that you can stab someone with any common pen you are right. The problem arises if your improvised weapon breaks. If that happens you no longer have a weapon and you will be left with a very angry attacker who is full of adrenaline. That won't happen with a tactical pen
Most of today's tactical pens are made of aircraft aluminum or a similarly strong metal that will not break.

One of the best things about tactical pens is that they look non-threatening and won't be noticed by an aggressor. They are carried in your pants pocket, shirt pocket, jacket pocket, in your check book; wherever you want.
These pens are one of the "hot" items among the self-defense and tactical crowd because a simple, everyday carry item as inconspicuous as a writing pen can help anyone that needs to defend themselves. In my humble opinion, if you carry any kind of pen in your daily life, it should be one of these lifesaving tactical pens. It is more than a pen ... it is an integral part of your personal survival and self-defense gear.

I consider these pens to be an essential part of everyone's survival gear. If you are attacked and you have one of these within reach you will be able to fend off most attacks. When the pen can be mightier than the sword, this is one of those times!

What else should I consider?

Make sure to practice
Buy two and practice with one. Go camping one weekend in a public campground and practice fire starting without matches, practice setting up a shelter, make sure you know how to use all the first aid material.

Below is a brief list of some common items that can be used and practiced with as camping and survival gear. Regular practice will help if needed for disaster survival, which would go without saying.

A Knife- Knives and swords are the most important things that a person can carry. Because they can perform so many different functions, this is. A good knife can be used to clear a trail, to build a shelter, and even to hunt and clean fish and game. Many people have survived being lost in the woods for days with little more than a knife. When they go out into the forest, this is a very versatile tool that everyone should have.

Wire saw - These take up little space and can be used to cut through, metal, plastic, and wood with ease.

Compass - Unless you're in a bug out location somewhere in the wilderness, you probably won't need this, but you never know. Keep one with you just in case.

Water Purification- Access to a safe water supply is absolutely essential. Various methods can be used to make safe drinking water, such as boiling it in a container. A set of water purification tablets that remove sediments and bacteria are good, as well as various types of Microfilters - pumps or containers that filter out contaminants. Safety and Security Solutions offers several water filters to consider buying.

Solar devices- We offer solar chargers, a solar kettle, solar oven and a power pack. These items will be essential if the power goes out.

What is the big picture on preparedness?

There is a difference between being paranoid and being prepared. I always pray for the best, but prepare for the worst. If we read the newspaper or watch TV we know the worst can happen. Instead of ignoring those events, I use those as motivation to prepare for the unlikely event that my force me out of my comfort zone and force a need to protect and care for my family without the modern comforts of our everyday life that we take for granted.

To plan for the bad things that may or may not happen is not an odd notion, and in fact almost everyone reading this is already actively engaged in some form of preparedness. Not only are you looking at this website but I would guess you have any one of the dozens of different types of insurance already available. You may pay for home owner's insurance, car insurance, health insurance, and life insurance for the same reason, which is to protect yourself and those you love from undo financial and emotional turmoil.

Survival planning and preparedness is no different than those types of insurance already mentioned. And in the same way we view those insurance policies, we hope we never have to use the insurance we are building through preparedness. We will be happy for our efforts however if the situation calls for it.

Since 9-11, the world has change, but the threats that existed before are still the ones that will most likely affect you. Think about how there are global disasters that are high impact and devastating, but their probability is extremely low. The range of disasters most people have to worry about here in the good old USA are what we categorize as personal or local disasters. House fires, job loss, wildfires, tornadoes, chemical spills and more really happen every day somewhere in America. Being somewhat prepared can help minimize the disruption in the lives of you and your loved ones.
